The Best Library Meeting Rooms Ever.

I have attended writers' meetings in various venues over the years, usually in the meeting rooms attached to public libraries. These rooms generally are functional and impersonal, which is the way they have to be in order to accommodate the many types of meetings they host and the groups that use them. But the best library meeting venue surely has to be Gladstone's Library at Hawarden in Flintshire, which is where the Wirral and North Wales Chapter of the RNA has its monthly meeting.

Sometimes we hold our  get togethers in here. We sink into those fabulous armchairs as we catch up with one another's news.

 

Other times, we chat over lunch in Food For Thought, the library's restaurant. If you ever go to Gladstone's Library, take your appetite with you. The food is always excellent.
And in the summer, we sometimes sit outside for lunch.

It is a beautiful place, steeped in history and the atmosphere is quiet, studious and welcoming. They also do rather nice bed and breakfast....

You're right, Jen. Our wonderful historic buildings are such a joy and an inspiration as well as being a part of everyday life in the UK. We're very fortunate over here.

Such a beautiful place, Susanna. One of the things I miss about the UK is how historic places are very much part of the fabric of everyday life. They're preserved, but also used and enjoyed. Wishing you much writing inspiration and happy chapter meetings in that glorious setting.

It's well worth it, Kate. When I was there last week, I was chatting to a writer who had treated herself to a few days of writing retreat. I hope you get to visit one day.

I don't think you could fail to be inspired there. I've wanted to visit for a long time. Slightly too far for the chapter meeting, so perhaps I'll have to save up for B&B! x
