"An Eye-Opening Read."

Posted on 26th April, 2020

Welcome to day 4 of the book blog tour for my Edwardian saga The Poor Relation. Thank you to everyone who has been visiting my blog each day to catch up with the reviews.

Today's first blog is from Emma Sueref of Em and Her Books. I am quoting her review in full, as it is pretty short:

"The first page contains a family tree which is incredibly useful for reference throughout the book as at times it's a little confusing, as with any large family. The story is a stark comparison between the two sides of the family and the two sexes. It was an eye-opening read to re-live what it might have been like to be a young woman at the time! Mary's determination is uplifting and admirable. I am not envious and it reminds us how far we have come. The book's writing style isn't my usual, but I felt it fir the story very well."

There were meant to be three reviews in all today, but, since the blog tour was organised, one of the reviewers has stopped book blogging altogether. The other reviewer might not be able to post her review today after all, but I hope she'll be able to post it tomorrow.
